HOW TO BECOME AN AIRHOSTESS IN INDIA

Airhostesses have many jobs on the plane. She helps to guide people, explain the safety measures while on board, helps people to settle in, coordinates security, assists the passengers during emergencies, ensuring the comfort of passengers and much more. Women can apply for being an airhostess while men can also apply for the same job and are called stewards.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Fluent in English and other foreign languages as necessary
  • Candidates must be between 18 and 26 years of age
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with a degree in hospitality, or other graduate degree
  • They should have a perfect vision, although contact lenses are acceptable
  • Candidates must be eligible for an Indian passport
  • Their height must be minimum 157.5 centimeters
  • Candidates must be physically fit and have fair to clean complexion
  • Candidates must be unmarried

There is usually a screening process at first followed by a written test, group discussions and personal interviews. Henceforth, the accepted candidates are put through a set of trainings as required in the relevant procedures.

Air Hostess Salary Structure

The salary of an air hostess depends on a number of factors such as work experience, type of organization from where the course has been completed, type of airlines( Private / Government Domestic / International), among others.

Domestic Airlines pay less in comparison to International Airlines. In case of Government Carriers, the pay is generally based on the Grade Pay guidelines. Usually in case of Domestic Airlines, the pay starts from within Rupees 20-40 thousand per month. The starting salary of International Airlines start from about Rupees 50 thousand per month and more.
